The books of Another Coffee Stories publishing house

I maestri della tostatura media

As you know by now, Caffè Ernani collaborates with the innovative publishing house Another Coffee Stories, which wants to bring our senses back into the centre of the literary experience through synaesthetic reading.

Synesthesia

Mutual contamination between the senses. It occurs when stimulations from one sense induce experiences, automatic and/or involuntary, in a second sense.

  • It stimulates the eyesight thanks to the authors’ written words, which can recreate an entire world in our minds, activating creativity;
  • The touch is instead stimulated by the material covers, designed to fully represent the author and his work;
  • And now we at Caffè Ernani come into play: accompanying the reader’s taste buds during the reading, through our expertly selected coffees roasted to a medium level, combined with the works of Another Coffee Stories, pervading even the sense of smell!
The publishing house with its books represents a unique combination of the charm of words and the beauty of the synaesthetic approach, which will transform the world of literature into a tangible reality.

And while we’re on the subject…

I would like to remind you that there is still time to enter the Ernani Literary Prize, win free publication of your work and compete to see the same work performed in theatre and/or film!!!

‘Sometimes you need to get away, travel and see all of creation before you realise that the most special place is the place you started from.’

When he opens his eyes again, Zenath does not recognise the place where he happened, ‘Everything seemed strange: the sky, the trees, the animals. It was not as they were supposed to be…’ Altuc can no longer be seen in the distance, and Genra and Annarel are no longer at his side either. A friendly goblin catches up with him and accompanies him to the nearest town, Mellit, where Zenath will make a bizarre discovery: humans are rare creatures, and it is difficult, almost impossible to meet any. Here he makes the acquaintance of Yuln, a storytelling elf who will accompany him to the magical realm of Rayle, dangerously threatened by the Apophytes. In the meantime, the world Zenath left behind is in the grip of climatic disasters, volcanoes, earthquakes, tornadoes… nature spares no one. Genra and Annarel, with the help of Soph and Piket, travel through cities, forests and ruins in search of the road that will lead them back to Zenath. The journey is long, uncomfortable, difficult, like the choices the

protagonists will have to take, aware that it is no longer the search for home and old comrades that is the sole objective of the mission, but also the salvation of a wonderful world, which is gradually falling into darkness.

‘If you could just line up those six numbers. Viale Giuseppe Verdi 7. SEVEN. I could buy myself a gigantic villa in Sardinia, by the sea, with an annexe for friends, who could visit me whenever they wanted. And, by the pool, have a sunrise every night and then sleep all day. If only I could line up those six numbers. My age. TWENTY-SIX. Mamma mia, I would travel around the world several times, with no luggage, no worries, with the people I love most. It would be a party all year round. If only I could line up those six numbers. ’

This book is a collection of 14 short stories and the feature that ties them together is that they all end badly. Simple misadventures, catastrophes or real tragedies await the characters in these stories in which a happy ending is not foreseen.

‘Maybe you are right. – I muttered. – ‘The truth is, I don’t give a damn how I die. Or rather, yes, but very relatively. I mean, what really matters is who you were in life. And I, to be honest, I was nobody…’

Maria, an insecure and pessimistic 16-year-old girl, is forced to spend the summer at the home of Uncle Gregorio, an old family friend, instead of with friends in Gallipoli. One night, a mysterious little girl urges her into a forest, and there Maria is confronted with the most honest version of herself. Between talking animals, enchanted glades and murderous monsters, distinguishing reality from fantasy will become increasingly difficult.

‘I believe that it is difficult for many to take charge of their lives and try to change, to become better in some way. Mainly because it costs effort. The fact is that what really changes you is not the time, but what you decide to do with the time you have. It’s the experiences you immerse yourself in, the people you meet, the paths you decide to take and, in all of this, it’s crucial to ask yourself a question: but me, what kind of person do I want to be?’

‘A land road always takes you somewhere interesting. I learnt this during my travels in Africa. Asphalt is for those who want to look from afar. Red earth, on the other hand, is for those who want to experience from inside the life that this huge continent offers.’

When he leaves with the humanitarian association Missione Calcutta Onlus, for Kenya, for a journey from which it is difficult to return, Rudy jots down this reflection in his notebook. From Nairobi to Loosuk, amidst incredible travelling companions and human experiences impossible to forget, he comes into contact with the little ones and their contagious will to live, but also with the girls of the Suguta Marmar Rescue Centre, escaped or rescued from the sale of their bodies.

In between there is rain, travel, free life, the sky, a fairytale to write and, above all, a school to build, to grow day by day, to give a new future to an entire society that needs to change.

Change course / don’t go south / nor north / head east to rise / as the sun does every morning.

Life is an obstacle race against your own fears and against your own mind, which repeatedly torments you by generating destructive thoughts. It is exhausting and breathtaking, which is why it takes your breath away, so much so that you almost feel like you are dying. However, the sun is there for everyone, that’s not a catchphrase: practically speaking, it is, because its rays affect everyone. Theoretically, however, it is not that simple, because those rays will never reach deep inside. This means that not even the most beautiful and powerful of suns can reach so deep as to warm a soul marked by darkness. We must learn to untangle our own darkness and come to terms with it until we can warm ourselves when we are in the dark. And only then will we be as calm as a daffodil in the moonlight.
