Why the yellow color of Caffè Ernani

I maestri della tostatura media
There is one predominant color throughout the Ernani world: yellow.

This color is echoed in the logo, the roastery sign, coffee packages, the website, social media, any cards or guides, and even on the machinery used in the lab.

In short, everything is dominated by a warm, bright and vivid yellow. A color that conveys warmth and happiness, as well as indelible memories of our beloved city-Milan.

Yellow is a truly evocative color, and we are proud to have included it as the main symbol of our brand.

This color tells an all-Milanese story: it is the color of the historic streetcars, which dominated the streets during the twentieth century.

A revolutionary means of transportation, an unprecedented novelty from the beginning of the last century, one of the first public means of transportation inaugurated. It was synonymous with convenience and affordability for all workers in this great city. But it was also symbol of innovation and industrial revolution, dynamism and technology. Expression of a city on the cutting edge.

Do you know a little curiosity?

Precisely one of the first streetcar lines, inaugurated in the early 20th century, passed in front of our Torrefazione in Corso Buenos Aires, which opened well into 1909, making it one of the most historic Torrefazioni in all of Milan. The streetcar tracks started right from Porta Venezia, then ran all the way down Viale Monza.

Streetcars have now officially entered the means of transportation used on a daily basis. The Milanese consider them an institution and love them, although sometimes a bit noisy. They are convenient and environmentally friendly and arrive in every area of the great metropolis.

The most historic ones, namely the 1500 series, have interiors with wooden seats and dim lights, and evoke warmth and history, while the exterior has an unmistakable yellow and cream color.

In short, they are a real living piece of Milanese history.

But it doesn’t end there. The color yellow is present in so many symbols of Milan.

Have you perhaps forgotten about our favorite risotto? Yellow risotto, grains of rice flavored with saffron, to create a delicate, enveloping and really tasty flavor.

Every Milanese has his or her own recipe, and each one is absolutely delicious.

Also: one of the first bike sharing services in Milan.

Do you remember what colors the bicycles are? Just yellow and cream, just like the streetcars.

I like to think that there was a desire to bring back the colors that inspired public transportation the first time around. To go back to the origins and convey the change in history, the evolution of transportation and the new needs of citizens, but always remembering the origins. A symbol of sharing and respect for the environment. Fast, comfortable, and allow us to get some exercise too!

Finally, I greet you with a little tidbit.

Yellow is the most fashionable color for interior design in 2021.

That’s why I don’t hide the coffee packets in the pantry, but always leave the small package with a modern and attractive design prominently displayed in the kitchen, to add a touch of color and trendiness to the room as well.

It is a simply fantastic color and honestly to me it puts a cheerful mood. Don’t you?
